John P. Neal, III

John Neal chairs the firm’s Corporate Commercial Section and is a member of the firm’s Healthcare and Government work teams. Engaged in the private practice of law since 1976 and a member of Minor, Bell & Neal since 1985, his practice is focused in the areas of Corporate Law and Commercial Transactions, Healthcare Law, and Public Utilities. He is general counsel to Hamilton Health Care System and its affiliate entities, various physician practices, Dalton Utilities, and numerous private companies in and supporting the carpet industry.

Mr. Neal is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, and the Conasauga Bar Association, which he has served as secretary-treasurer and president. He is also a member of the Georgia Academy of Healthcare Attorneys (where he is currently serving second term on its Board), the American Health Lawyers Association, and American Counsel Association.

A lifelong resident of Dalton, Mr. Neal is active in his community. He is currently a member of the Target Tomorrow Steering Committee and Task Force, and is a past chairman of the Task Force. He is a founding director of the Community Foundation of Northwest Georgia and a director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dalton-Whitfield County. He is a member of the Dalton Rotary Club and the Dalton First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Neal is a 1973 honor graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology from which he received a Bachelor's Degree in industrial engineering. He is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia Law School where he earned his Juris Doctorate in 1976. While in law school, Mr. Neal was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Delta Phi and the Order of the Coif.
