John Minor III

For nearly half a century, John T. Minor, III has provided quality legal representation to Northwest Georgia. A native of Macon, Ga., Mr. Minor earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Mercer University in 1950 and a Bachelor of Law degree, also from Mercer, in 1951. While at Mercer, he was a member of Delta Theta Phi. He served as a captain in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps from 1951 to 1954, and later in the Georgia National Guard from which he retired with the rank of colonel. He was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1952.

In 1954, Mr. Minor joined the Dalton law firm of Hardin, McCamy and Minor, which later became McCamy, Minor, Phillips & Tuggle. He founded the law firm of Minor, Bell & Neal in 1983.

During his distinguished legal career, Mr. Minor has served as Whitfield County Attorney (1965-1981) and Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia (1973-1982). He was a trustee and secretary/treasurer of the Dalton-Whitfield County Hospital Authority (1960-1965) and later served as legal counsel to Hamilton Health Care System. He is a member of the American Academy of Healthcare Attorneys and was president of the Georgia Academy of Hospital Attorneys from 1990-1991. He is also a certified mediator.

Mr. Minor has been an active civic leader, having served his community as president of the Dalton/Whitfield Chamber of Commerce, member of the Dalton Rotary Club and past commander of the American Legion Post 112 in Dalton.

He is a member of the Conasauga Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia and the American Bar Association. Mr. Minor concentrates his practice of law in the areas of Healthcare Law, Estate Planning and Mediation. He is a member of Dalton’s First United Methodist Church.
